It took some time for the Phoenix cross country teams to make their season debut.
After battling air-quality for practices and having their first meet of the season cancelled on September 2, the Pirates debuted on September 9 with solid results at the Saxon Invitational in Salem.
Robby Vos was 14th overall in the 5000-meter event, finishing 17:17.50. As a team, Phoenix finished 13th in the mostly big-school meet.
Noah Marshall added a 29th-place finish for the Pirates in 17:56.61.
The PHS girls were 11th as a team. Lupita Alegria (46th in 23:12.31), Marciela Alvarado-Powers (59th in 23:46.45) and Jasper Cortell (61st in 23:47.43) paced the Pirate girls.
Phoenix returns to action Wednesday at the Pre-Skyline Conference meet in Grants Pass.
