Big finish boosts Vos in victory

Robby Vos turned on the jets Wednedsay afternoon.

The Phoenix senior used a late-race rally to win the Country Fair Classic in Elmira. Vos ran the course in 16:06 in the final tune-up for next Wednesday's Skyline Conference District event.

The Pirate boys finished 20th as a team in the 32-team meet. Dilan Mathieu was 135th in 19:51 and Justin Vermillion 146th in 20:04.

The PHS girls turned in a strong 12-place finish. Lupita Alegria (31st in 21:35), Marciela Alvarado (51st in 22:29) and Jasper Cortell (52nd in 22:31) led Phoenix.
